Day 21: Nails Inc TSV

Hi,

After noticing a message from Nails Inc. on their Facebook page, saying that they have the TSV (Today's Special Value) item on QVC, I rushed over to the QVCuk.com to check out what they had to offer.

To my delight their deal of the day was a box of 7 new polishes, that are yet to be released on the nails inc website. I will be swatching them this week and show you soon but i hope they are as beautiful on the nail as they are in the bottle...

Day 18: Model's Own - Hayley's Comet

Hi,

Sorry I've been away for a few days but I am happy to say that it was because my elder brother got married and I was honoured to be a bridesmaid.  So today and tommorrow I will be catching up to make sure that I don't miss a day!

Today I wanted to show you the new Model's Own polish which is the latest addition to the Beetlejuice collection which came out Christmas last year.  There were two polishes added at the beginning of this year, and Hayley's Comet is now the 8th polish in the collection.

This colour is duo-chrome multi-faceted and bright!
This colour is quite hard to describe, it looks orange, gold, bronze, green and blue all at once and this is why I love it. I have tried really hard to capture all these colours on camera but its not very easy, but i suggest you  buy it yourself so you can see what I mean.

Up close you can see this polish contains tiny orange/gold flecks.

But when it catches the light it reflects a deep teal/green
This polish is a welcome addiction to the Beetlejuice collection and blends right in with all the other duochromes in it.

It's opaque in 2 coats but you could easily wear this as a pale more translucent polish in 1 coat. It is smooth to apply and leaves a pearl/matt finish without topcoat.

Overall a gorgeous polish that can be worn all year round.

Have you tried Hayley's Comet yet? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Day 17: Avon 24K Gold Eyeshadow Quad in Gleam of Gold

Hi,

After such a good response from my review of the Green Flash Avon Eyeshadow Quad I decided to show you anouther from the Avon collection, which is slowly growing in size.

Avon's sale catalogues are the best place to pick up these quads as they can be anything up to £8.50 full price but on sale come down to £4 sometimes even £3, which when you order the amount of make-up I do, makes a huge difference!

Anyway here is what it looks like from the outside:

The classic black box with gold elements
A handy guide of how to apply the colours is on the back.

All four of the colours in the quad have a gold shimmer to them (hence the name Gleam of Gold) and the colours are pigmented so much that you could create both bold and subtle styles.

The inside of the palette has been given the gold treatment too!

The is shown on the packaging as colour 1, to be used on the brow bone
but it will also work well in the tear duct as a eye brightner
Colour 2 is shown as a base lid colour to go all over your lid
but on darker skin tones may work better as a highlighter than colour 1

Eyeshadow 3 is a beautfiul mauve/purple colour, use in your socket line
or over the top of black gel line to make a vivid violet shimmer shadow
Finally colour 4, a golden pale brown, this would work as crease colour
when used with colour 2 or as a shimmer over a brown smokey eye.
As I mentioned about these colours swatch really well as the shadows are highly pigmented:

L-R: 1, 2, 3 & 4
Overall I am really impressed with this eye shadow quad. The colours are very use-able in that they could be worn everyday for work or glammed up for an evening out. They are long wearing and don't crease hardly at all.

I got this compact on sale so I'm not sure if this is still available but check out their website for all the other gorgeous quads they offer.

Do you have this quad or any other Avon shadows? Let me know what you think in the comments below

Day 16: The Gospel According to Coco Chanel

Hiya,

Slightly different to what I have previously shared with you, I wanted to show you a book that arrived today. I've been looking for it for ages because I have heard such things about it:

I have heard and seen so many reviews for this book and all of them good, and being a huge lover of Chanel products I decided that it was probably time I got this for myself and found out all about its founder Miss Coco Chanel.

I must admit I have only read the first line "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous" and already I think I know this is going to be an addictive read.

I will report back once I have read more but I would love to hear your opinions. Have you read this book? Did you love it or hate it or not really bothered about it at all? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Day 15: Sleek I-Divine PPQ Shangri-la collection - Respect Eyeshadow Palette

Hi,

Wow what a long name for an eye shadow palette, not quite sure what it all means but basically Sleek have come out with a new collection called "Shangri-la" and within it is 2 eyeshadow palettes and 2 matt lipglosses. I decided to get the respect eye shadow palette and the Jazz lip gloss, as they both seemed to go so well together and the colours are just so bright and beautiful.

The outer packaging is very vibrant when compared to sleek's usual black on black so stood out a mile on the display stand:

Inside the packaging is the usual from sleek shiny black on matt black, simple but I love it. The only downfall to this is that at a glance I can't tell all my sleek palettes apart?

what's inside this simple looking palette however more than makes up for the exterior. The glorious warm colours of the 12 eyeshadows dazzle you as you open it, with oranges, ochres, browns and creams this is a palette that could take you from the day to night with ease.

The large mirror makes this ideal for travel with room for a small brush if you
don't like the applicator sponge it comes with.
What I also love about this palette aside from the gorgeous colours is their names. They have clearly been inspired by 60's motown, as the names contain some of the best musicians from that era.

Top L-R: Gladys White & James Brown
Bottom L-R: Roberta Black & Vandellas
Top L-R: Shalamar & Count Basi Beige
Bottom L-R: Cameo Cream & Motown Mink
Top L-R: Aretha Orange & Otis Red
Bottom L-R: O' Jays & New Jack Pink

As always with the Sleek palettes the colours are highly pigmented, the only colour that I felt wasn't, was Gladys White which I could not get to swatch at all. I've swatched them in the three sets of four as above (they are all with primer as I always use it nowadays):

L-R: Gladys White, James Brown, Roberta Black & Vandellas

L-R: Shalamar, Count Basi Beige, Cameo Cream & Motown Mink

L-R: Aretha Orange, Otis Red, O' Jays & New Jack Pink

Let me know in the comments below if you have tried this palette or any other products from Sleek.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
