Topshop: Nail Art - Gems, studs & beads

Hello,

I make no bones about my love of the colour black, I wear it most days on my clothes, shoes, nails and any excuse for a black smokey eye is fine by me!
I also love this time of the year because fashion trends tend to head to the darker side of the spectrum and this season has been no different, with the added bonus of the grunge studs and spikes thrown in for good measure I couldn't be happier!
Topshop are one of my favourite high-street stores for keeping on top of the latest trends and always find new ways to explore them.  So when I spotted this Nail Art Kit in my local store I had to have it!

The packaging for this set is fairly simple but very practical as it takes up so little space for the amount of product you get. The wheel also means you only have open the segment you need and don't risk spilling all the other everywhere

There are 12 sections in total each with a different accent in each, I'd recommend getting either a cocktail stick or an orange stick with a blob of blue tack on the end to pick each one up as it can get quite fiddly.

In the first 3 sections you get rhinestones in Black, dark silver/steel and light silver. These are all mirror backed for super sparkly-ness and if you are super careful when you take off your nail polish you can refuse them too. You can style these in so many different designs including: lines, polka dot, accent at the cutical or corner tip, or you could just cover one nail completely in stones to add a real blinged out look.

The next 4 sections are the studs, and they come in 2 shapes and colours. These are curved up and hollow underneath so when applying them I'd recommend either putting a blob of nail polish or nail glue where you want to place them so that the centre sticks as well as the outside edges.  They are slightly bigger than the rhinestones and work really well with a matt nail polish to look like a studded leather jacket.

The next 3 segments are the beads in black silver and gold. These are the most difficult to apply I would say, because the tend to react to static and stick to everything, but equally look the coolest when you get it right. You can apply them all over to when polish and create a look similar to that of the MUA Nail Constellations or if you have a lot of time and patience you can apply them individually to create patterns. You will need to work quickly to get them set in wet polish and a topcoat is a MUST to make them stay but they are the most likely to come off if you are not careful, of all the accents in this set.

The final 2 sections of this wheel are the pearls. They are similar in size and colour to the rhinestones but with a smooth spherical shape. They come in white pearlescent and shiny black and have a flat back. As with the rhinestones these will stick best to wet polish and need to be given a topcoat to secure them in place.

Any of the accents included in this set will work well on any colour polish, but if you are going for a "rock chick" vibe to fit in with the grunge trend, the darker the better, or a metallic gold or silver will work well with the black accents, maybe just on a ring or pinky finger for added glam.

The best bit about this set of nail art accents is the price. At £3.50 they are a bargain and bound to last you a good while if you are careful and reuse them. But hey if you can't be bothered they are not going to break the bank if you need to go get more! They are available from your local Topshop store or online.

I hope you love them as much as I do, and keep an eye out on my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for looks using these beauties very soon. Or leave me a comment letting me know how you would use them.

Love Jude
